Cohort 3 's presentations on the Lower Thames Crossing and the UK's Nuclear Future infrastructure projects

The Mini-Project Presentations for Cohort 3 this year was based on 2 major infrastructure topics: the Lower Thames Crossing and the UK’s Nuclear Future projects.  Divided into 2 teams of 6 students,  each team member contributed their research  from a different perspective and then the teams created a multi-disciplinary view of the whole development.

Team Lower Thames Crossing delivered viewpoints varying fromFlood Resilience in Lower Thames Crossing, Adaptable Tunnelling Schemes to an Environmental Impact Assessment. The students’ posters while reflecting each student’s individual research had parts of roads running through them which when cleverly joined together formed a puzzle reflecting the roadmap of the Lower Thames crossing.

Team UK’s Nuclear Future analysed topics covering the spectrum from the Cost of New Nuclear Power in the United Kingdom, Structural Design of Nuclear Power Plants to  Nuclear Waste Management – What are our options? to name a few.

The students then delivered their analysed data in posters and slide presentations. The day  was a great success with attendances from industry leaders from many of FIBE-CDT’s industry partners including BP, Laing O’Rourke, Trimble, Atkins, Costain, CH2M, Mott MacDonald and Highways England.
